Julien McDonald and fur…

How about this one Ladies and Gents. At the last minute, Sam from papierdoll decides he’s going to try to get me into the Julien McDonald show. Now I know the trials and tribulations of Yael Avni and I am sympathetic to a fellow beat writer, but come on. Let’s get easier access into some shows. If PETA can get in why can’t I? This is London for pete’s sake.

I get into the McDonald show and I must say it is a refreshing change of pace from what I read on the NYC fashion week shows. The general assesment there was that it was bland and not adventurous enough.

Not London. The Julien McDonald show was filled with fashion, theatrics and, well, more theatrics. Out the window went the flowing skirts and in came very colorful sequined dresses, VERY sexy metallic bikinis. Shorts and skirts that harkened back to the 50s and 60s were on full display. To be truthful, while some of the pieces were somewhat outlandish in nature, they were refreshing considering the blandness of New York.

Then came in Peta.

While there was no Fur at the show this year, midway through a model walking on the runway, out comes this commotion from midrow. PETA protesters with signs in tow crashed the show. After that happened, I knew this week was going to be delicious.

Tomorrow I will be heading to GHOST and Jessica Ogden shows. See you then.
