The $600 haircut

The New York Times has an interesting piece on Sally Hershberger. Hershberger is the New York based hairstylist that charges $600 to get your hair trimmed. While many will look at this eye popping figure and say she can’t be that good, apparently she is. The article alludes to the fact that her rise to stardom began with the shag cut she gave Meg Ryan for the 1995 flick “French Kiss.”

I’ve never gone to her for a cut, but that would probably require me having $600 spare dollars lying around, a sense of adventure and the wherewithall to be on some celebrity list. Seeing as how I am striking out on all fronts except the adventure part, I doubt she will be seeing me soon. I also doubt that she cares, about seeing me soon that is.

The jist of the article though is about her new forays into stuff other than struttin’ n’ cuttin’. sorry. Hershberger is planning on launching a denim line with product ranging in price between $170 and $240, a skincare line, and other ventures. Player haters are doubting whether she will succeed, but I figure if you can cut people’s hair for $600, then anything else is child’s play.

$600 for a haircut is just plain outrageous. I get my hair done…that is done, treatment, conditioner, styling, cut etc…for $300 and I like what they do.
