Paris Fashion Week: Rick Owens

American designer Rick owens must love pony tails. And I must love Rick Owens. Of all the shows seen in the past 3 days, this show seemed to pay the most attention to the female figure. There were a lot of long, slender pieces. Using less color than the ones seen in other shows, Owens seems to have a great understanding of the female form. The models moved with ease and the pieces appreciated their curves with every single step… until a stumble. It wasn’t that big a deal, but you could tell that some dresses were easier to walk in than others. At the same time the pants had features easily noticeable from a distance (and I was definitely very distant), zipper linings and seams were purposefully displayed.

The lack of color was definitely a downside in my most humblest of opinions. Every show need not be a rainbow kaleidescope to get praise heaped on them, but I would have loved to see maybe a purple or maybe even a pink. That’s just a personal preference though and not Owen’s style.

One more thing: the powderface make-up really contrasted the outfits and was done to great effect. Can I rest now?
