Tenisha Travels: New York
Send to a friend:

Ok, I’ve finally had some fire put up under my ass to get on the ball and write this blog. Thanks Sam
! I want to apologize to my readers, but in keeping with the great American way of excuses……this fashion tour is more time consuming and tiring than not. I never know when I’ll get to a computer to write about all my experiences on the road.
While I was here in NYC for a week, I tried to get in as much shopping as possible. I really wanted to do some damage vintage shopping, but had such a hard time finding any vintage stores. At one point during my shopping journey, I felt like Brad Pitt in the Angelina/Jennifer square off…..LOST!!!! I did happen to find one thrift store on a side street behind Canal St. . It was pretty lame. Finding my black Vivienne Westwood pencil skirt for $8.00 made up for it. My mind and my pocketbook were stimulated when I went to Gallagher’s Art and Fashion Gallery located at 111 4th Ave on the corner of 12th Street in the Village. I fell in love with this place and would have stayed longer if I didn’t have to get a friend off to the shuttle to get back on his flight. The gallery isn’t really large, but it has a LARGE selection of books from photography to fashion to architecture. It’s an intellectual utopia.
I finally met with Sam the business manager and Michelle, the editor of Papierdoll, and had such great time, I didn’t want to leave. I also met David, who was just as much fun. We went to City Crab, drank, ate, and were merry. It was nice. I felt (just to warn you I’ll always make my analogies in reference to pop culture) like I was in a scene from St. Elmo’s Fire when everyone is in thier favorite pub drinking and eating.
The shopping was great, the food was fab, but one can’t go to NYC without taking in the nightlife and because when I party, I do it like a ROCK STAR. I have to no qualms in telling of my late night rendevous in NYC. During my stay here I experienced 2 clubs and one private party - The Time Hotel, Lotus, and Deep. The Time Hotel was too pretentious for my taste on the night I went (Saturday, Oct. 1st); Lotus was rock star fun…loved it!; and Deep was as exciting as learning HTML. So I do have mixed emotions with my nightlife tour of NYC, but life goes on.
Tomorrow we leave what’s known as New York to ousiders and me, for our next show in Brooklyn. I will be sure to keep you abreast on my crazy life on the road!
