Interview with a Vampire

John Galliano decided that blood, skeletons, whips and chains are long overdo in the world of haute couture. His collection for Dior was dramatic, magical and bordered on scary/sexy. The Dior show opened 3 days of haute couture fashion here in Paris. The models looked as if they were apparitions straight out of a surrealistic French Revolution. Their hair was bleached white, dark rims painted around their eyes and the color red was absolutely EVERYWHERE.

My favorite piece (and a crowd pleaser) was an ecru dress with a huge tulle skirt with the slogan prominently displayed: “liberte, egalite and fraternite.”

Security was ultra tight for this show, but being a student has its privleges. I will be catching the Dominique Sirop show later today and the Franck Sorbier show on Wednesday. The season has started.

    Multi-colored Lip Gloss

Never was a fan of lipstick. Just never did it for me. May it was just too much of a committment with a letdown at the end. Lipstick looks great in the first half hour. As the day wears on, bad things start to happen. It wears off (even the long lasting never wash off kind), it smears, smudges and I won’t event start about getting on your teeth. This Too Faced Box of Chocolates lip gloss package is the perfect solution. Gloss is just way more fun without the fun aftereffects. The colors included?

How about Golden Rose Shimmer, Champagne Shimmer, Pink Shimmer, Sheer Pink Shimmer, Nude, Ruby, Mauve, Clear with Gold Glitter, Peachy-Beige Glitter, Iridescent Pink, Rose Shimmer, Rose with Gold Glitter, Russet, Gold, Soft Pink with Gold Glitter, Vibrant Coral, Nude Shimmer, Clear with Silver Shimmer, Sheer Raspberry, and Deep Shimmering Plum.

All for just under $28. It’s a lovely deal for Valentine’s Day. Sephora.com

    Look Preview Part 2

Yesterday we gave a preview for our new photosite Look. Today we show you the other side of look, the outtakes. Sure it’s cool to look at the finished product of a photoshoot, but sometimes the fun is actually witnessing how we got to creating the scenes in the shoot. So take a look at WinterWear 05, click the bottom left square on the gallery to see the make-up and hairstyling gurus Dennis Bailey and Michelle Jongeneel.

    Prada Up In Flames

575 Broadway was hit with a fire last night, including a Prada store that had apparently just received a shipment of $5 million of merchandise (I bet those vinyl bags are extra-flammable) and soaking the $800,000 Brazilian zebra wood floor. Oh the tragedy… and by tragedy, I mean there are poverty-stricken children in Haiti… and by poverty-stricken, I mean they are getting to meet Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (not to mention their genetically-perfect spawn) right now, who probably have some Prada somewhere on their bodies.
