Urban Outfitters Rips Off an Indie Designer

Johnny Cupcakes makes funky limited-edition tees with cupcake-integrated designs printed on them. They exude a tongue-and-cheek hipster style that gives the wearer a feeling of belonging to an exclusive club, or at least part of an inside joke.
Urban Outfitters, the Gap of urban hipsters, saw these merits in Johnny Cupcake designs. But when they did not reach a deal with Johnny Cupcakes about carrying his t-shirts, they kept the samples and then reproduced something MUCH too similar to one of Johnny’s cupcake designs, trying to pass it off as their own.

So go ahead and support the original Johnny Cupcakes, not the unauthorized reproduction -it’ll be good for the soul.
