NYC Fall Fashion Week: Oakley Show
“The world is a vampire…†this famous opening line to the Smashing Pumpkin’s song, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, signified the beginning of the Oakley Show, along with an extreme snowboarding video clip projected onto the walls of the Atelier. Proceeding down the runway were models who looked “vampiristicâ€Ââ€â€with their hair pulled back tightly and wrapped in black (resembling a spike)â€â€an effect that culminated with the sleek sunglasses worn by each model.
The hard edgeâ€â€signifying a serious, fierce sports philosophyâ€â€permeated the show.

Overall, the collection was sporty, but not athletic: the designs were not practical or even conducive to the sports they were associated with, but rather represented the street style of each athletic category. Much of it seemed like what you would imagine Vail hipsters to traipse around in after a day on the slopes (but, except for the ski goggles, not what they would wear on them).

The collection was almost exclusively black, white and grey, which added even more edge to this blend of sports and punk.
