NYC Fall Fashion Week Wrap up: Apollo Braun
(note: Click photo on left for full gallery.)
When one of the models walking in your show is named Dirty Martini (not pictured), you know it’s going to be a really good time. And it was. This rubenesque model was one of my highlights of the show. The story goes something like this:
Apollo Braun was our third ever interview on Papierdoll. Every other sentence during said interview was about the size of his dick. This was fine by me, but I’m not that way. No, really (I’m sure he’s not either considering he’s married). Straight guys can be fun too (seriously, we are). Penis aside, Apollo is this larger than life character. Think Heatherette on steroids.
I go backstage to chat with the models and say hello to Apollo. Friend Dave who went with me, screams out in a drunken stupor…Dirty Martini! Apparently she’s a mini celebrity. Martini -whom I will refer to now as Dirty- was Miss Williamsburg Brooklyn 2004. I didn’t know there was a Miss Williamsburg. I’d hate to see who Miss Park Slope is. I kid. (inside joke)
We get to talking and she is this down to earth, sexy big boned burlesque model. She was one of the many misfit characters that seem to fit just right in Apollo’s show.Note to Michelle: Can we use her in our next shoot?
About the show:
The show was set in the middle of this huge assed Mardi Gras party. Apollo knows how to take care of friends. Vip passes, staff passes, free drinks, naked people, massages and illicit items were all over the place. This was a party. I’m not that big into fashion shows, I feel like the people who attend are vapid and pretentious. They just don’t interest me at all. This party slash show was dramatically different. The look photo gallery will demonstrate what I mean. While Apollo definitely put on an amazing show, and I will definitely buy some of the items featured (the gray shirt that says Have Sex on the First Date is my fav), he knew that it was all about fun and the crowd was more than appreciative when he sang his explicit version of Hava Nagila. I love his shut up song.
btw- I don’t have the high moral standards that the editors do, so I will shill for an advertiser at the end of this post. Take a look at our advertiser of the month, Tilting Swiftly, they have the best jewelry. Hi Jen!
