Design phenom Raf Simons is at it again. The Belgium based designer apparently sold his soul to the devil because everything he had touched turns to gold. It’s the slim, sexy look he used for men that’s making his first line for women under the Jil Sander label so amazing. Simons has taken his success at menswear and is transforming it into a permanent win in womenswear. From the speckled wool coat to the boy-tailored pants, Simons had it cold. Let’s not forget the trademark Sander short pea coats and the sexy, slim long flowing dress.
The line was so well received Cathy Horyn of the New York Times said, “On a single night Mr. Simons managed to erase four or five years of bad history at Jil Sander.”

Milan Fashion Week Fall 2006: Jenny Packham

British designer Jenny Packham decided it was time to mix it up with the Italians in Milan. You either fall in love with her dresses or check your pulse. For fall, Packham decided that glamour was the way to go. Dress after dress in every single photo shows a mastery of design. There was an empire-line dress that was a highlight specifically in photos. It was made of black silk and swept straight to the floor adorned with a jewelled band. With the exception of one or two dresses that were slim fitting and some pants suits, most of the dresses were flowing pieces that looked as if they were made for royalty. Definitely a change of pace for what’s coming out of Milan.

Hello Alice

Sometimes fashion demands a certain degree of fun. Marc Jacobs was apparently thinking the same thing with these Glitter Ballerina flats. I think the thing to take away from this posting is somewhere deep, deep down we all want to be seven again. No worries, no bills, no work.

Style Prophet: Canadian Designer Leads Fashion's Future
Stephanie Nolasco
At the age of fourteen, Lacy Barry was given a religious premonition of her future with fashion.
