
Oleg Cassini born Count Oleg Cassini Loiewski. He died on March 17, 2006 as a result of complications from a stroke. Cassini was born in Paris, France, raised in Italy, and moved to the United States in 1936.
He was most noted as the designer who made Jackie O the fashion icon that she is. The simple lines and luxurious fabrics, and the pill box hat defined the wardrobes of the American Woman modeling themselves after the most fashionable First Lady. He also designed for Hollywood beauties,who included Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, and Gene Tierney - to whom he was married for 11 years. He recently designed a line of wedding dresses for David’s Bridal.
His career spanned over 7 decades. He will be missed.
