Tales of the usually chic

I loved Ali’s post, and so thought I’d share something in the same vein. I’m really hoping for commiseration, support, etc., about how ridiculously far we go in discussion of fashion.

I have a friend who is very cute and stylish. In fact, when she first came into the office where we preiviously worked together, I had two immediate reactions:

She looks cute and dresses well (no one in Central Pennsylvania dresses well) – we could be best friends! (BTW, I was right. We ARE best friends.)

She looks cute and dresses well – noooooo! I’m the only one here who dresses well! I’m going to have young, cute competition!

So, now that we are best friends, we actually send each other photos of what we’re wearing/new purchases since we don’t work together and live nearby anymore. So, she sent me a photo of her very sylish new shoes this morning, and I immediately had to sign on to IM:

alkthatcher: I wanted to tell you urgently that:
alkthatcher: A: love your new shoes. Very Marc Jacobs
XXXXX: really? yay!
alkthatcher: B: Promise me you will never wear them with those socks again, and if you really love me you will take them off right now. Just take them off. they’re meant to be worn with bare feet.

This comes with the disclaimer that my cleverly XXXXX’d out friend is usually very chic.
