Robin Givhan Wins Pulitzer

Ali Wednesday, April 19th, 2006 | Everything

In a great moment for fashion writers, Robin Givhan, a fashion critic for the Washington Post, is the first ever fashion writer to win the Pulitzer for the category of “distinguished criticism, in print or in print and online.” According to the Daily, she has purchased a navy Martin Grant dress for the ceremony, and based on his spring collection, our best guess is that she chose this one:

While that seems like an appropriate choice for such an occasion−sophisticated, elegant and yet serious−if I ever win a Pulitzer (for fashion or other writing), I’d go over-the-top with something like this dress from Nicole Miller:

I’d want my dress to say, “I’m not only fabulous on the written page, I’m also fabulous at life.”

Congratulations, Robin. Keep those stodgy politicians with their less-than-fashion-forward-thinking in check.
