A collection can tell a story, express an art form, start a trend. But the collections presented at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) spoke volumes of what Chicago can produce in terms of fashion design talent. May 5, 2006 10:30 am showing featured the best of the best from students at the SAIC. From the juxtaposition of colors, textures, and silouhettes, the designers executed (some perfectly, some I’m still confused about) collections that spoke where there inspiration came from to showing the time and labor it took to construct each garment. My favorites: Stacey Abrams, Sophie Lennox-King, Iris Bainum-Houle, Sakina Shirazi, Charlotte Hess, and Sarah Isenhart.

What is the most popular fashion design school in USA?

    What you think guys?

  2. Marie says:

Has to be FIT hands down.

FIT is definitely the most prominent, but I went to FIDM and I think that that has to be at the top if not near the top.

i’m really impressed with a lot of the designs here, i think that the benefits of big name schools like FIT are that designers are able to make connections and gain visibility–there is no denying the strong role self promotion plays in becoming a darling of the fashion industry… but as the SAIC show demonstrates, you don’t need to go to the “best” to have incredible talent and vision

  5. S says:

SAIC is one of if not THE top art school in the United States. Students who study fashion design at SAIC have the benefit of a fine arts background, and are trained to think in non traditional ways- something that a school like FIT is lacking.
