Las Vegas Dream Home

We’ve had several photo series over the months but this has got to be my favorite hands down. Entitled Las Vegas Dream Home, photographer Frankie Norstad gives a view of some great concepts for fashions this summer. Sometimes the look outshines the name. Take a peek.

    This is Why I Wish I Didn’t Work 9-5…

    Just arrived in my inbox:

Of course, I have to draw the line of my shopping “addiction” at taking a half day off work to go to a sample sale. If anyone is there and can nab me this dress in a size 4, I’d love you forever and pay a 10% finder’s fee.

Open Toed Pumas (?!?) for Summertime

For those of us who do a lot of walking around the city, stylish sporty shoes are a religion, and Puma is our savior. For the summer, Puma has introduced a motorsport sandal—Impulse Cats—that will allow your toes to wiggle and feet to breathe in the summer heat, while still providing support and comfort as you power-walk your way to Starbucks.

The color selection is a bit scant, but the options have doubled since they first caught my eye on Zappos a couple weeks ago. I think I will hold out for them in brown.

    When dirty is beautiful

    look

Want to wear gold chains without looking like Mischa Barton or Mr. T (who, coincidentally, wear a lot of the same jewelry!)? Well then Dirty Librarian Chains is a great, unique, no-one-else-will-have-it option.

Designed by Susan Domelsmith in Brooklyn out of vintage materials, the chains are delicate and feminine - but with an edge. Lopsided loops and rock and roll accents really make the pieces stand out.

    earrings

In addition to ladylike chains, Susan has a lot of punk rock items, like the earrings above - my favorites.

Details like clasps are often unique and special, making you feel the same!

“I find my materials mainly in thrift stores, flea markets and garage
sales,” Susan said. “It takes me much more time finding the materials this way than simply buying them new in bulk, but I like the specialness that the whole process creates. This way, every customer has a piece that is truly one of a kind.”

    Papierdoll July 2008 Interview

    Interview: Thomas Voorn
    Sonia Pereira Murphy

Considering the now ubiquitous trend of disposable fashion where all that seems to matter is a cute factor, Thomas Voorn's intellectual take on clothing is not only refreshing, but enlightening. Voorn's fascination with clothing calls to mind an anthropologist intrigued with skeletal remains, a sociologist... [Go]
