Papierdoll June 2006 Issue
The men have taken over Papierdoll. The June 2006 issue is up. We sent Michelle on a trip to Europe, Ali is going shopping for 30 days, Lisa is handling UltraPdx and Andrea decided to join us. So we decided to run things while the head staff is away. In this month’s issue we interview men’s designer Michael Wesetly, take a look at five essentials for men and a summer beach fashion photo feature.
On the Look side of things, we have 3 photo features that just can’t be missed. The warm weather is here, stay air conditioned inside with us.

And Lip Venom was born!
So DuWop’s Lip Venom is nominated in the Best Lip Plumper category for Sephora’s Best of 2006 Awards.
In an e-mail letting us know about the nomination, Cristina Bartolucci, co-founder of DuWop, revealed the story behind the creation of the cult favorite. I thought it was so cute! And I know “Felicity” fans are going to be so stoked!
“Lip Venom was created in 1999 on the set of the hit NBC show ‘Felicity.’
‘After love scenes, my actors would come to me for touch-ups and have these beautiful flushed plump lips,’ said Cristina Bartolucci, co-founder of DuWop. ‘We wanted to create a product that mimicked the same effect as kissing. We went to work in my kitchen, mixing up ingredients that would increase the circulation to the lips, like kissing, to plump them up. We tried cayenne pepper, crushed mustard seeds, and anything else we had in my cupboard,’ said Laura DeLuisa, the other half of DuWop. Once the girls had a formula that worked, they would bring it to set and test it on Jennifer Garner and Keri Russell, who starred in the show, and get their feedback. After several tries, the formula for Lip Venom was created.
Lip Venom is a spicy, tingly gloss that enhances lips’ natural color and shape with a blend of essential oils including cinnamon, ginger, and wintergreen, in a jojoba oil base, and was the very first lip plumper ever.”
Personally, I don’t even care about plumping my lips, I like the taste and glossiness of Lip Venom.
