Papierblog Weekend Planner 8/11 - 8/13
Send to a friend:
I’m going to be spending most of the weekend doing mundane things like going to the movies, shopping at the usual suspects and maybe having some sort of dinner thing happening. It’s Friday afternoon and I’m more looking forward to next weekend (can you say Mexico?) than this one. Here’s what’s worth taking a look at this weekend.
Must See- Anglomania:Tradition and Transgression in British Fashion

Catching flack for my Mel Gibson thing last weekend, I’ve decided to bring back the fashion focused theme of the weekend planner. We’ve talked about it, everyone’s contributed something on it and you still haven’t gone to see it. This weekend’s as good a time as any to see English fashions from 1776 to 2006. It’s at the Met Museum in New York. (btw- $20 is the suggested admission fee, I’ve gotten away with giving $15 on those money-light days.
The exhibit ends September 6th.

Must Read: Hintmag’s Marc Jacobs interview (circa 2002)

He doesn’t give many interviews, but when he does lookout. Perused one of my favorite sites (Hint) and found this interview from 4 years ago. This was about a year after 9/11 (how appropo considering recent events), when the industry was a little less ego-centric than usual. Definitely a good read sometime this weekend.
Must Buy:Burberry Collarless Coat

Burberry just rolled out their fall fashions on their retail website. If you’re doing early fall stocking this coat is an important edition to your collection. I bristled at the whole military look for the fall, but this is one of the few exceptions where I agree. If you have $1400 spare dollars lying around, pick this up.
