Kate Sylvester Found

Kate Sylvester

You know how I was wondering about the whereabouts of one of my favorite designers? Well she’s found, thanks in no small part to reader Cara H. Sylvester’s fall/winter line shown at New Zealand fashion week (I think?) was everything I hoped it would be. Stacy Gregg of the Runway Reporter thought the same thing.

Surprisingly, for a collection that was savage and wild and outlandish, there was something so elegant and cultured about it. This is a range that is still wearable in the extreme. As I left the show I heard a woman say “I want all of it”.

Now all we need is Spring/Summer 07 and all will be right with the world.

Haute Couture over the phone

Haute Couture
Sometimes you really don’t need a good photographer to highlight items from a show/collection. Showstudio demonstrates that all you need is a steady hand and a good cellphone.

And when the photos came out we found a flower dress that really tried to emulate a flower. I won’t even ask what the designer would charge for this one.

Looking for a Cellphone

Naomi Campbell

She’s going to play a recurring character on Ugly Betty. If I were to beat up the help, with my cellphone no less, things would not be so pleasant for my person methinks. But I alas I don’t have “the help” and if I broke my cellphone I’d be hard pressed to replace it. So no Ugly Betty for me.

Yeah, I think I be hatin’…yo.

Obsession

Pierre Hardy

Wanted to congratulate Eurobrat via Sleek on giving me something new to obsess over. And I also wanted to thank Pierre Hardy for being some sort of maniacal genius for coming up with these things. I am watching you.

On The Anorexic Model Problem She says…

Gisele Bundchen
“I never suffered this problem because I had a very strong family base. The parents are responsible, not fashion.”

-Gisele Bundchen

Common sense coming from a model. I can see the skies opening and mounted angels flying and a beast with 7 eyes. The world is truly coming to an end.

On Papierdoll

Papierdoll July 2008 Interview

Interview: Thomas Voorn
Sonia Pereira Murphy

Considering the now ubiquitous trend of disposable fashion where all that seems to matter is a cute factor, Thomas Voorn's intellectual take on clothing is not only refreshing, but enlightening. Voorn's fascination with clothing calls to mind an anthropologist intrigued with skeletal remains, a sociologist... [Go]
