Archive for February, 2007

A lot of top fashion bloggers are covering fashion week and pointing out items of interest from designers slightly under the radar yet still very relevant. The Morphine Generation show wowed Lesley Scott of Fashiontribes. See an excerpt of her review below and click the link for the full review:
A black belted mini trench dress opened a show filled with skinny legged pants for gals & guys, sexily slouchy trousers in gray menswear fabric (with a paperbag waist in one case & suspenders), and a gorgeous jersey cowl neck minidress which was belted at the natural waist and had a slightly longer hem in back.

and so it begins, and our new look…
This morning and afternoon we head to the tents and around the city in search of fall collections from designers. We will be providing round the clock coverage on Papierblog. You can look forward to our reviews, but more importantly the trends we are seeing for the fall.
Part 2 of this post addresses our new look. It may take sometime to get used to, but both Papierdoll and Papierblog both have a new look. We wanted to create a symbiotic relationship between our blog and magazine. When one gets updated with fashion content the other will as well, so you will be up to date with all great fashion content you’ve come to expect from Papierdoll and more. Enjoy our fashion week coverage.

Fashback - Rosa Cha
Oh you don’t think you will be wearing this come summer? Oh trust me, you will. In this edition of fashback, we look at Rosa Cha’s collection from Spring fashion week (this past September). I haven’t seen her in any of the IMG press materials for this fall’s fashion week, but seeing as how she designs bikinis I don’t imagine I would. If I am wrong, I’m sure you will let me know.

The Rosa Cha show had the best scenery and most energy of any of the shows I have attended so far this fashion week. The opening to the runway was set as if we were at a show at a Brazilian Carnival. The crowd, which included JC Chavez, Ivana Trump, and Russell Simmons, all found themselves dancing in their seats as the music started. And the air smelled of roses. The collection was 95% swimwear and was inspired by French incursions into colonial…

Opus

Woke up this morning to a Cathy Horyn scribed Opus to Anna Wintour in The New York Times entitled Citizen Anna, here’s my favorite quote from the article:
“She’s not too pushy,†Mr. Pinault said. “From my point of view, it’s a very positive way of demonstrating her power. She lets you know it’s not a problem if you can’t do something she wants. But she makes you understand that if you could, she would be very supportive with her magazine. She really makes you understand that.â€
Folks, that is measured and controlled speaking. Take note.
