It's Just so Different
India fashion week is another one of those “outside of the big 4″ fashion weeks I meant to blog about the other day but am only getting to now. Looking at the photos coming out, it’s plain as day to see that there is a deep talent pool. We covered Manish Arora’s fashion show in London and he showed again in India; and is now set to show in Paris next season during the prêt-Ã -porte collections. The fashion world is taking notice of this talent, but I’d be remissed if I didn’t talk about some of the other collections that wowed in pictures. Some of the names that are worthy of dropping include the aforementioned Arora, Meera and Muzaffar Ali, Monisha Jaising, Raghavendra Rathore.
Some of the more interesting styling cues include silks done by hand, and an elaborate mix colors usually not reserved for the fall/winter season including bright reds, springlike yellows, whites (which we’ll be wearing after Labor day apparently); then there were the intricate appliques, beading and cashmere. What’s next for India? The second fashion week of the season for the country, Bombay of course.
The photo to the left is from Manish Arora’s India Fashion Week show.
