I’m Going into Fast Food

Dior

Driving through McDonalds yesterday after my workout (I’m still on the Revival Diet), I noticed something about the cashier as I picked up my salad (see, I’m still on the diet). She was wearing an absolutely real as real can be pair of Dior sunglasses. I did a double take and thought to myself, I need to stop writing and join McDonald’s. That’s what I’ve been doing wrong all along. Fast food is the wave of the future.

I digress.

Something tempted me to start a conversation with the cashier about her Dior sunglasses, but I did not. I went straight home. Got online and looked for said glasses. They sell for about $320. See here at Eluxury. It left me wondering if the world is truly upside down? If a cashier from McDonald’s can afford to have the very best, why can’t an equally fabulous blog writer? Oh I know, because McDonald’s pays more. I’m definitely going into fast food.

You’d be surprised the quality of knock-off people sell on the streets these days. Heck , you could probably find a pair of Dion’s sunshades at Forever21!

    peace,love,jaja!

Don’t worry, while writers will probably always be underpaid, it’s probably more a result of the cashier living with her parents, being behind on her rent, or buying designer sunglasses instead of starting a 401K or contributing to charity. I think that the “have it all” attitude sold to us by magazines and television these days just leads to many people having the trappings of “having it all” without the substance. They’re living way beyond their means, acting irresponsibly, and incurring unneeded debt (for needed debt: see mortgages, school loans, and child care.) So just revel in your independence, responsibility, and financial security!

I don’t know how much writers get paid but people who work in fast food restaurants DO NOT get paid that much….in fact people who work in the service sector are paid among the lowest wages, recieve no benefits, work long or odd hours and are not treated too well.

Not so true, Bob. McDonald’s is, in fact, one of the most awesome companies to work for. Not only do they offer part (and full) time benefits, they have awesome wages and great incentive plans for students and other employees. I interviewed the first female McDonald’s chain restaurant owner who started out flipping burgers. Not only was she AWESOME but she could most certainly afford some Dior shades.

And I’m a blogger as well… so I feel your pain, Eva!
