Archive for June, 2007
I make it a habit to rarely log in on the weekends. I am behind my computer almost every minute during the week so on the weekends I try to step back. But today’s very special update is one of the photos that again, didn’t make it in our snapshots photo spread for the June 2007 issue. This one features a head piece from designer Leah C. Take a look below:

A Model… on Where?

That’s right folks, Natalia Vodianova is on the July 2007 cover of Vogue magazine wearing Nina Ricci no less. The celebrities are nowhere to be found. Somewhere Nicole Richie is turning over in her grave… I’m kidding.
And while said model is dramatically overused, it’s almost startling that the fashion magazine is using, gasp.. a fashion model for the cover. Can it be that the headmistress is feeling the breath of one of her underlings on the hairs of her neck? Did she run out of burnt out female celebrities? Could it be that this is going to be a trend and deep in the hallowed halls of Conde Nast the August issue will feature another model? The suspense can truly kill.

Being Beautiful

Indie designer Nancy Bello Novello wants you to be beautfiul. That’s the mantra behind her new line Ballare Clothing. How I found out about the line is a story unto itself. I asked Michelle about some of the indie designer lines she’s looked at and liked in one way or another and she said Ballare was a bit different because of the range. So I took a look Novello definitely has something with this new line. She’s currently working on the next season’s collection but the start is saying that there is promise behind the line. Visit her website here.

Letter to Alber

Dear Alber,
I absolutely adore your works and everything that comes with them. I’m speaking directly here of the mystqiue, the famously French name, the ability to answer furtive questions from strangers about my attire and say demurely they are Lanvin, when in my heart I actually want to shout it out. I must request that somehow, someway you let me into your atelier/studio/whathaveyou maitenant. I am dying to see what you are about to release for Spring 2008 and word from WWD is that you will be showing just that at your couture show next month, in addition to launching your bridal collection. So please, if you are so inclined, send the invites to my e-mail address.
Your Fan
Eva
