Fetherston on Target
Send to a friend:

Erin Fetherston’s Target collection is growing on me. It didn’t take too long but it was somewhat necessary to get to the point where I’m ok with it, but the growing aspect really had to occur. The difference can be demonstrated by looking at Alice Templerly’s collection. The instant I saw it, the instant I was hooked. I think the delay on this end was the fact that Fetherston’s collection seems very 16 year old-ish. The next thing I look at when coming to this realization is that the lines for the Go International collections never translate as well from photographs to real life. I’m thinking of the Paul & Joe collection specifically. Take the dress on the left for instance, there is this hybridization of the tuxedo shirt with a mod influence thrown in somewhere. It’s a little over the top childish. Maybe it’s the presentation of it all that has me less than a fan. The fact that all the models for the collection are wearing blonde wigs (I guess that’s Fetherston’s charm) detracts from the strength of the presentation. Sure it’s cute and kitschy and playful, but I think I am conditioned from Temperly’s collection to have this initial dislike reaction. I guess the key here is not to compare but to look at it on its own merits. With that in mind, I can understand the overall allure of Fetherston’s collection.
On day 2 of looking at trends and lines coming for the fall season and the waning days of the summer season (I know, we’re not even halfway there yet), I think that the Target collections are going to be a part of wardrobes, but the dramatic attention they’re getting (specifically from bloggers) may not truly reflect the overall appeal of the lines. The Target collections are still great to look at and the fact that they’re so affordable make them a completely relevant option, but I would advise trying them on. They really are more appealing in photos.

I like the first piece, because I know what I would pair it with to make it look better….but with “Tarjay” you can find alot of pieces to mix with higher end stuff and sometimes put a whole look together. But I aggree with you on Alice Temperley….her collection has more range and looks grown up, and you can mix and match the pieces into your wardrobe for seasons, because they’re classic staples.

Bah, why can I not picture any of this stuff on anyone other than Zooey Deschanel? Too little-girl-coquette for my wardrobe, that’s for sure.

I agree with Annie, this collection does nothing for me at all. And they’ve made the model look terrible!
