It Takes too Long…Fashionably

Fashionably Late

I was walking around Union Square yesterday and saw this interesting display. A woman was simply taking forever to do everything. I never paused to ask them what this whole thing was about. Just figured in my jaded New York mind, something artsy, nothing to see here. I then went to the New York Times website and saw the exact same girl and an explanation of exactly what was going on there. A student project working off of a hope and a prayer (basically a shoestring budget) was documenting all the stages of dress prior to a date. Basically the woman getting ready for her date…SINCE SATURDAY…is performance artist and professor at Colorado College, Lián Amaris Sifuentes. The photo above (from the New York Times website) shows her dressed in the middle of Union Square in a beautiful evening gown, she was supposed to be ready by Sunday night (or Monday?) for her date.

Will she be ready in time? And if she’s taking 72 hours to get ready this guy better look like James Blount.

I saw the same set up while driving by in a taxi. I remember commenting to my DH that it must be a mid-budget movie set. Too much equipment for a student film and not enough for a real big budget movie. But I couldn’t figure out what kind of a movie would have a Victorian room in the middle of NYC. Now it makes more sense. Thanks for the article.
