Punk meets Pretty

Anastasia babydoll dress

Anastasia Chatzka, an upcoming Chicago-based designer, just recently opened her online store. The only items for sale right now are a variety of kitschy bags and wristbands, but keep your eye on this site.. her clothing designs are incredibly innovative, achieving an unusual balance between punk edge and delicate femininity, sometimes with a hint of the futuristic. Some of her best pieces are the high-waisted babydoll dresses, an irreverent but very wearable take on the 50s housewife style.

Get an eyeful of Searle and pre-order for fall

Papierdoll

This Thursday, August 9 Searle is giving customers (that’s you) a sneak peek at the Fall ‘07 merchandise, and taking pre-orders at their trunk show. We recommend the comfy-cozy yet still slinky-sexy looking sweater coat and chic pink jacket above. Both sweater coats and shorter jackets are perfect fall substitutes for the plush coats that languished in closets until at least February last year. Let us know which pieces you chose, too! Check it out from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at their shop at 635 Madison Avenue between 59th-60th. Be sure to bring your major credit card (and prepare to do major damage) and call (212) 750-5153 with any questions.

Papierdoll July 2008 Interview

Interview: Thomas Voorn
Sonia Pereira Murphy

Considering the now ubiquitous trend of disposable fashion where all that seems to matter is a cute factor, Thomas Voorn's intellectual take on clothing is not only refreshing, but enlightening.
