Lagerfeld Confidential Deconstructed

Karl Lagerfeld

I’ve always been a reader of the Fug Girls blogs but this one was just too good to not comment on. They deconstructed the “Lagerfeld Confidential” movie on nymag’s Daily Intelligencer blog and I agree with every. single. point. The Lagerfeld movie meandered along as if it were talking about some vapid guy who can bore you to tears at a moment’s notice. Though I never met the man personally, Lagerfeld definitely does not seem like that type of person. He wears shades indoors for chrissakes. I kind of want to sneak into his bedroom at night and take a peek to see if he wears the shades (or a modified form of them) while he is sleeping. So what did they say about the movie? Too much. I almost want to lift the whole blog article because it’s that good, but here are some interesting excerpts: …

when filmmaker Rodolphe Marconi touted his new documentary Lagerfeld Confidential as a profound peek behind The Kaiser’s sunglasses, we had to investigate — after all, this is the man who once told Elle, “It’s too easy to forgive. I love revenge.” What could be better than an hour and a half of that?

The answer: a livelier movie made by someone else.

A particular favorite of mine is what’s on the walls in the Chanel bathrooms:

Inside the Chanel bathroom, a sign sneers, “Pissing everywhere isn’t very Chanel.”

The Fug Girls remark:

True on many levels; indeed, we can think of several celebrities who should have their childhood nannies stitch that onto a pillow.

Take a look at their whole review here.
