BalenciagaRead Cintra Wilon’s (of the International Herald Tribune) article about her foray into the Balenciaga store in NYC and was forced to nod my head slowly and uncontrollably. She posits in a round about way that the emperor has no clothes syndrome might have affected Nicolas Ghesquiere and Balenciaga as a whole this season. Does he care? Probably not. Why would he, when she does an about face midway through the article and says:

Ghesquiere’s genius is big and bold enough to give nudity a run for its money. It is the work of an angel.

I guess the reason I am pointing the article out is because it was somewhat amusing how she pestered the sales staff particularly the head sales clerk. She did it to the point where she was being sort of smarmy writer for a reputable publication. The emperor quickly put on his clothes for her though when she found what she calls the “Rosetta Stone” of Balenciaga that explained the season’s collection for her in detail. I’ve seen the boucle’ jacket personally and it does demystify the collection. A good read. You can check it out here.
