NYC Fashion Week Preview: Twinkle by Wenlan

Twinkle by Wenlan

I’ll throw out the appearance of impartiality right now by stating that I am a fan. So anything I say can be taken with a grain of salt…or not. After gushing excessively over last fall’s Twinkle by Wenlan collection, I’m hoping this season brings more of what was loved from the last. Wenlan Chia doesn’t try anything elaborate or a reinvention of the wheel. She appreciates the female form and makes clothes that complement that form. She’s famous for her use of knits which were used heavily during last fall’s showing. I said back then that the particular collection, made fall, seem like fall. You find that other designers take dramatic liberty with their Fall shows and create pieces that are nearly indiscernible from Spring/Summer.

That seasonal confusion doesn’t exist with the Twinkle collection and this is definitely on a short list of must-see shows.
