Fashion Week via Cellphone- Romero Bryan

Romero Bryant

Fashion Week is non-stop. Usually it’s all confined in a certain little pocket of New York. That fact alone makes it easy to get back and forth between venues and the tents easily. Needless to say, having to go down to Tribeca in the middle of day two for the Iinternational Designers Show caught me off guard and ticked yours truly off just a bit. Heels become an enemy in the humid 40 block trek (even if a cab was part of the excursion). That aside, the slowness of the neighborhood made it easy to relax and focus on some up and coming designers – the real heart of fashion week.

Romero Bryant

We originally were only attending to see Romero Bryan – a designer from the UK we had the pleasure of meeting a few months back. The best part about seeing Romero again was remembering how genuine, and motivated he is. I talked to him with Sam back stage. He wasn’t only excited about showing in New York but the energy and camaraderie he had experienced working with the other designers and models. Romero has dressed some very familiar style celebrities in the UK ( Victoria Beckham, Amerie, Alicia Keyes, Beyonce, Cameron Diaz, just a few), and will, in my opinion continue such success with New York exposure.

His collection Rome by Romero Bryan is young and funky. His use of chiffon, silk, and satin create fluid pieces that have become signature to his brand. The goddess dress with rouching details made the model look as though she was floating down the runway. To size up his collection he included a little black dress that recreates a classic. Romero also played around with the use of straps and Swarovski crystal zips that added that extra “oomph” to an already great collection.
