Emmys 2009: Honorable Mention

I’ve just perused the red carpet pics of the emmys and I have to say — not impressed.  Maybe I’ve become older and jaded and modified ice skating frocks don’t thrill me as they did when I was seven.  Or maybe it was the influx of reality and teen drama stars whose style, historically, is wanting.  IDK.    But this year seemed like a mixed bag of either too tart, too sweet, or too frumpy.  There were quite a lot of folds and pleats gone wrong, not fitting the actresses bodies well.  Draping is a delicate business and doesn’t necessarily transfer from runway model to “real girl” figure.

The girls are in Isaac Mizrahi, Versace, and Monique Lhuillier.And for next year remember fit, fit, fit.  It could be a beautiful dress, but if it doesn’t fit well you may as well show up in a burlap sack.
