Marc Jacobs was not going to be outdone by Lincoln Center. The designer really upped the presentation at the New York State Armory with a huge museum-worthy installation the models emerged from and traipsed around, and music from Vivaldi’s “Summer.” The whole thing actually seemed very Chanel. Except the clothes, of course.
Saturated, earthy, kind of fall-y come to think of it – the colors were definitely bold. Silhouettes were very, very 70’s and generally not to my liking. I enjoyed the Marc by Marc Jacobs Collection much more. There were a few standout pieces I found interesting – like a voluminous, ruffled pink jacket that seemed purposefully out-of-scale with the girl wearing it. But those pieces were generally those that were less consistent with the rest of the collection.
