Refinery29 (if you don’t know about it shoot yourself…now) has a list of the best independent store openings of 2006. They scour London, New York, Los Angeles and even Berlin, to bring this can’t do without list. I agree with all their picks for New York btw.

After all the controversy during this past seasons fashion weeks surrounding under weight models, industry fears have come to pass. Twenty-one year old Ana Carolina Reston, died due to complications from anorexia. The 5′8 model weighed 88 lbs, and only ate tomatoes and apples.
