There’s a reason why designers, retailers and the like go for celebrities in their advertising. They sell clothing. Moreso than models, (unless the model is a supermodel celebrity), they just have that certain cachet that you can’t get by putting an unknown in your ad campaign. Enter Eva Longoria once again for Bebe’s new ad campaign. The recent Mrs. Parker’s campaign for Bebe debuted recently to eye opening magazine readers everywhere. With less not an ounce of fat per millimeter, Longoria’s swim ad may single handedly be the reason why women will have a whole new set of body issues to deal with come the summer.

Net-A-Porter on Emilio Pucci

Net-A-Porter has a neat-o retrospective on Emilio Pucci. It has several photos of Pucci’s designs from seasons past and where the collection is now. There’s definitely this evolution from the “slinky jersey dresses” to the trademark bright swirling patterns. The great thing is seeing as how the collection remains timeless. Mathew Williamson has done a great job of keeping the collection current and making sure that the line endures. See the retrospective here.

B*Fly, yay!!
Yay! Fun! Yippie Hooray! That’s the feeling one gets when visiting Bluefly’s new store B*Fly. Youthful models are jumping around wearing the latest jeans, the latest fashions from designers you know and love. Why is this new B*Fly so important? No clue. Seems as if the new store is livelier and more exciting than the main Bluefly store. The question besides the importance of the new store is what’s the difference between the new and old store besides being livelier and more whoopee fun?
Hopefully that question and other mysteries of the universe will be solved before our collective deaths.

Freja
Must give credit where credit is due. Nick Knight shot an uber cool video of androgynous model Freja Beha Erichsen that left mouths open behind my shoulders. Agyness has nothing on Freja and competition is good for the soul. The pant adjusting end of video is particularly fun. If this is what Spring/Summer is going to be like, sign everyone up now. Video is here.
Someone brush me up on my Jazz, is the music Mingus?

Condi and Armani

The worst kept secret in Washington is that Secretary of State Condolezza Rice has something along the lines of a fetish for high end designer items. She apparently has an affinity for anything Armani. The fact of the matter is that she’s no Madeline Albright. The woman loves expensive things. The NY Daily News has an article today on on Rice’s ambitions of becoming Vice President (it’s getting to the point where people are jockeying for No.2). At first Rice was adamant about not wanting to hold elected office and she’s held steadfast to that position, but in all honesty, how can anyone pass up the chance to be the most stylish Vice President (possibly President?) in history. How fashionable is Condi? Here’s an excerpt from the article:
She also dresses in ultra-expensive Giorgio Armani and Oscar de la Renta suits and blew thousands of dollars on eight pairs of Salvatore Ferragamos in one shopping trip.
