Lacoste Tribute Site

Lacoste

The visual heavy content retrospective Lacoste website is a bit of a treat as it takes you back in time to the founding of Lacoste. The site features a bit of everything. There are products from the new line (the handbag you see above is a wishlist item) autobigography of current ceo Michael Lacoste. Design drawings from Lacoste’s past and looks thoughout the history of the brand peppers the site as well. It’s a bit of a time waster and fashion lesson if you’re interested. Visit the tribute site here.

Cheeky

Gisele Bundchen

“Dammmnnnn…I can’t believe that Leonardo Di Caprio got tired of tappin’ that! If I was Tom Brady, I’d NEVER leave her…damnnn,” quoted our esteemed business director. Making the rags New York Daily News, New York Post, The Sun and everything in between, Gisele Bundchen’s ass was on display for everyone to see. The thing is there’s got to be some sort of disconnect as the photoshoot wasn’t for some sort of ass product, it was for a makeup company. So unless women everywhere will be bearing their collective asses with some sort of blush, and rouge, there’s no correlation.

Someone please help explain the concept.

Fashion’s Revolving Door

copyright New York Times

Peter Dundas, Lars Nilsson, Paulo Melim Andersson and Isabel Toledo, these names may means completely nothing to the public at large, but for the fashion spectators they represent some of the top talent in the industry. The New York Times this morning has a piece trying to figure out, why, if they’re so good, can’t they stay employed? On the face of it the answer is pretty simple, they’re drama queens, the whole lot of them. Truth though is stranger than the fiction that is spooled around. As an example, they look at Lars Nilsson who seems to get divorced more than Elizabeth Taylor. (more…)

What Powerful People Wear

With our new…new look, a decision was made to have a new feature that highlights the clothing that really powerful people wear. Paris Hilton was an initial choice as commands legions of fan, but the decision was scrubbed at the last minute. Today’s focus is Elisabeth Murdoch. If the name seems familiar that’s because she’s the daughter of the vast right wing conspiracy, the she beast of conservatism, the harbinger of liberal doom. Yes, she’s Rupert Murdoch’s daughter and she’s holding some sort of fundraiser for Barack Obama in London. Seems that the enemy of her enemy is her friend (or something along those lines). So what does the conservatives’ version of Lex Luthor wear?

elisabeth murdoch

While it was hard pinpointing the actual designer she wears in the above photo, it’s obvious that her style choices mirror her ideology. A conservative silk blouse, a dark navy business suit, the watch is very understated, no hoop earrings here, and it all makes up for what a no nonsense billionaire heiress would wear. She’ll eat your lunch, take your cookies and convince you it’s for your own good. Paris, take notes.

Loubous Pour Vous

Papierdoll Recommends:

Christian Louboutin

While Eva and Meryl this week were off recommending designers for the Spring, I decided to go in the other direction simply because no one designer has got my heart this season. I’m still on the fence about Chloe, but I liked the direction this season. What I do love is the smattering of shoes from Louboutin’s Spring collection. Seeing as how he has an exhibit going on at FIT it seemed the right thing to do to highlight the one and only pair I have from his collection. It’s comfortable, chic and has a front zipper that really makes the shoe. Never did I think that I could swoon over the length of a paragraph for a pair of shoes, but I did just that. I’m pretty happy about the purchase, no buyer’s remorse here. So my recommendation for Spring? Anything airy, but I would avoid the criss-cross straps, for some reason the look seems dated. Dated, not classic, see below as an example:

Christian Louboutin
Though some may disagree, the zippers don’t help.
