Go Ahead, Call it a Comeback

Vionnet

Designer Sophia Kokosalaki and Barneys seem intent on reviving Vionnet. For those who were asleep in fashion history 101, Vionnet lived and breathed as a fashion house from 1912 to 1939. Madelaine Vionnet designed pieces for stars of yesteryear including Marlène Dietrich and Greta Garbo.

The new line is set to debut this Spring 2007. View the full press release here.

A personal aside: this is very exciting news, we’re talking a line created before most people reading this was born, revived in 07. What a way to start the New Year

p.s. I know this was announced July 2006 but this is news to me, besides, Spring is 2 whole months way.

Does Your Closet Look Like This?

Nan Kempner
Imagine converting your bedroom into a closet to accomodate your clothes. I’m talking 362 sweaters, 354 jackets items from Valentino, Gaultier, Balmain and many, many, many, many others. That is the Met’s exhibit of socialite Nan Kempner.

24/7 Macy’s

Macys

I have no money at all this week. Pocketbook is bone dry. But even I will be at Macys sometime between tomorrow and Christmas Eve. I will do this at 3am, just to see what it’s like. Yup, Macy’s is open 24/7 between tomorrow and Christmas eve at the Queens Center Mall in the lovely NY city borough of Queens. Someone was answering my prayers for a publicity stunt.

One more place to shop this season

Trina Turk
California based designer Trina Turk opens her Manhattan store today in the Meatpacking district. The store offering California warmth and charm along with Turks “summer of love” type pieces, will be welcomed during the next few weeks of hitting cold New York streets searching for the perfect holiday gifts.
