Remember when everyone wanted to wear something Tommy Hilfiger then a couple of years later when no one wanted to wear something Tommy. Fast forward and although there’s still a bit of stigma behind the brand (something that he sought to change during fashion week). Most attribute it to his visit into the world of hip-hop where you’re in one day and the next day (to quote Heidi Klum), you’re out. The hip-hopers were quick to drop Tommy…now he’s back into music with Tommytv, but this time he promises he’s not hip-hop… he swears…seriously. This time he’s all about finding the next big artist. Memo to Tommy, there’s a show on TV that does the exact same thing, it’s called American Idol, but you can use the term “artist” loosely in this case.
Instead of focusing on going the music route here’s a small recommendation to Tommy. Create gorgeous dresses. (see below)

Create a collection that everyone will aspire to have and a handful will have the wherewithall to actually buy. Then once that is perfected, go the TommyTv route, we don’t want a return to the Tommy-less dark ages. Whaddayasay?

Charlize Theron… or not

Still trying to figure out why this ad of Charlize Theron’s video on T magazine makes it look like she’s not Charlize Theron. There’s a bit of sophistication in her look as opposed the drop dead gorgeous, nice girl next door look. If changing your hair style and can have such a dramatic effect, then it’s time for a drastic makeover for the summer. The Charlize Theron video is here.

Page Six reports that Valentino, Alberta Ferretti and Catherine Malandrino won’t in fact be opening stores near each other across the way from the Hearst building in NYC. Much to the dismay of the workers there the store fronts were being built specifically for the “Confessions of a Shopaholic” movie being released by Disney starring Isla Fisher. The movie is set to release next February and may attract the same viewers that went to see The Devil Wears Prada and the ones that are going to see the Sex in the City Movie this summer. Word is there will be Star Wars-like campouts at movie theaters for the Sarah Jessica Parker movie.

Karl Lagerfeld in Grand Theft Auto IV

This is real folks. This is very real. Grand Theft Auto IV a videogame that is set to be released soon wear you can pop a cap in someone’s ass is going to feature fashion’s badass. That’s right Karl Lagerfeld makes a cameo in what is sure to be a million seller. Lagerfeld plays the role of a radio station DJ in the game. If you’ve been living under a rock, you take the role of a character that drives around on various missions, building allegiances, killing people having sex with hookers and flipping the bird. In the midst of all of this while driving you can change radio stations and listen to Lagerfeld the DJ among others. This all fits very well since Lagerfeld is a major music aficionado amassing a collection of over 70 iPods.

Banned from British Airways

Only terrorists, unruly passengers and Naomi Campbell can not fly on British Airways flights anymore. This was going to happen sooner or later and if it was going to be anyone it obviously would have been Naomi Campbell. In the pantheon of banned flyers, Campbell seems like the least harmful until you hear of what she was accused of doing and how she arrived on the infamous list. Here’s what she did, and here’s what was done as a result. British Airways apparently misplaced one of her bags and as a result Campbell flew into a rage. As an aside, wouldn’t you want to be the person to go up to Naomi Campbell and tell her that her bags were misplaced? Imagine the fear of the British Airways worker who had that enviable job. (more…)
