Karl Lagerfeld in Grand Theft Auto IV

Karl Lagerfeld

This is real folks. This is very real. Grand Theft Auto IV a videogame that is set to be released soon wear you can pop a cap in someone’s ass is going to feature fashion’s badass. That’s right Karl Lagerfeld makes a cameo in what is sure to be a million seller. Lagerfeld plays the role of a radio station DJ in the game. If you’ve been living under a rock, you take the role of a character that drives around on various missions, building allegiances, killing people having sex with hookers and flipping the bird. In the midst of all of this while driving you can change radio stations and listen to Lagerfeld the DJ among others. This all fits very well since Lagerfeld is a major music aficionado amassing a collection of over 70 iPods.

Banned from British Airways

Naomi Campbell

Only terrorists, unruly passengers and Naomi Campbell can not fly on British Airways flights anymore. This was going to happen sooner or later and if it was going to be anyone it obviously would have been Naomi Campbell. In the pantheon of banned flyers, Campbell seems like the least harmful until you hear of what she was accused of doing and how she arrived on the infamous list. Here’s what she did, and here’s what was done as a result. British Airways apparently misplaced one of her bags and as a result Campbell flew into a rage. As an aside, wouldn’t you want to be the person to go up to Naomi Campbell and tell her that her bags were misplaced? Imagine the fear of the British Airways worker who had that enviable job. (more…)

Age ain’t nothin’

Keith Richards

Manolo, the shoeblogger asks a very relevant question after displaying this picture. While the answer is obvious, to a person living in a vacuum completely devoid of any contact from the outside world, it may not be so obvious. View his question here.

Winehouse + Cavalli - Lagerfeld = a New Deal?

Amy Winehouse

You have to wonder if deep down Cavalli is doing this to sort of tweak Karl Lagerfeld. The Times Online UK is reporting Roberto Cavalli and and Amy Winehouse may have been (or may be) collaborating on something. The ambiguity doesn’t end there. No, as a matter of fact it continues with her agent adding fire to the speculation basically stating that it’s not the first time she’s been approached by a variety of fashion companies and designers (Lagerfeld?) for some sort of pdiddy-like collabo. See the only thing is that Lagerfeld said months ago that his muse for a recent collection was Winehouse.

…recent speculation that Roberto Cavalli is about to loop Amy Winehouse into some kind of financial love-in. Nothing has been signed, you understand, but Cavalli’s spokesperson confirms that he “adores” the singer and that they have been in talks. Even more amazingly, Winehouse’s agent says this isn’t the first time that she has been approached by a fashion company.

Conflicting Messages

Meredith Blake at the New York Daily News reports today that fashion is getting demure this season. Her reasoning behind this is that the plunging necklines everyone has been so used to is officially getting the boot. She uses Roberto Cavalli’s Spring show in Milan as an example. Truth be told his collection was very conservative but Cavalli is not known for outward displays of tawdriness. Blake though somehow missed the fact that being demure is only one aspect of the fashion going on this season. Quick example, Prada’s Spring collection:
Prada Plunging Neckline
You also can’t forget Marc Jacobs’ derelicte moment last Spring. Let’s wear underwear externally!! So is Blake’s assessment that fashion is getting compassionately conservative? Nah.

Style Prophet: Canadian Designer Leads Fashion's Future

At the age of fourteen, Lacy Barry was given a religious premonition of her future with fashion.
