Imagine - Fashion Design Videogames

Imagine Fashion Designer

If you’ve seen it all in fashion then you haven’t quite experienced Imagine Fashion Designer New York. Right now in LA, there is this testosterone filled event known as E3 going on where every guy you stayed away from in High School is attending not only as a nerd, but as a millionaire nerd. There are some women there as well and thank god they’re no longer forced to wear skimpy outfits to please guys who will ignore them for the latest iteration of Grand Theft Auto.

Imagine Fashion Designer

Seeing as how women in the industry are making strides (see Jade Raymond), it was only a matter of time before some sort of fashion design game made it’s way. The game is called Imagine Fashion Designer New York and it’s predictably coming out for the Nintendo DS and possibly the Wii. You act as a fashion designer (what else) creating a variety of looks on what appears to be Paperdolls (get it?). You work your way through the industry as a budding young designer and avoid pitfalls like Anna Wintour (I kid). The game is set to debut this fall, but looks promising from the screenshots coming out of E3.

Steve and Barry’s Chapter 11

Bitten

In the we didn’t see this coming department. Everyone is reporting on the apparent demise of off-price mall shop Steve and Barry’s. The company has been around since 1985 and for the most part things have gone swimmingly. They even started featuring low priced celebrity branded items. Most recently they made deals with Stephon Marbury who created a line of sneakers that sold for the then unheard of price of $15 a pair. They then cut a deal to feature Sarah Jessica Parker items that sold for the under $20 range. The latter was all the rage of the blogosphere pre-launch until mean ole’ Steve and Barry’s snatched the exclusive away from the bloggers and landed it in the laps of the ivory tower folk at Vogue.

While this is most definitely a serious matter for Steve and Barry’s some bloggers may call it poetic justice. Whatever it is, SJP may be looking for a new home and a higher price.

Behind the Scenes Sarah Jessica Parker Vogue Shoot

Sarah Jessica Parker

Vogue’s new vehicle while sputtering initially has something very interesting in the Behind the Scenes session at the Sarah Jessica Parker photoshoot. Blame it on a variety of things as to why Vogue TV did not catch on initially but features like this go along way in putting that history in the rear view mirror. There’s a lot of the fluff, loud music and dizzying camera work that you normally get an expect, but aside from the technical aspects you get to find out why models/actresses look so wonderful on magazine covers. You also get to see the thought process behind putting shoots of this nature together and incidentally you find out about the Sex and the City star as well. It’s a good time waster.

The Other Obama Last Night

Michelle Obama

We’re all about equal opportunity blogging so when Cindy McCain wears something worth mentioning we’ll mention it. But last night was not about Barack Obama. Last night was about Michelle Obama and that wonderfully, gorgeous dress. The woman was absolutely fierce and radiant last night and while we may have a bone to pick with Mr. Obama patting her rear when she got off the stage, we understand, it’s love. I digress. Everyone here is still trying to find out who designed that dress. If anyone knows, please drop a line. It was a sleek, form appreciating, light purple dress with a beautiful black belt and she accessorized with a low black heels. The woman knows style.
