For the Oscars Let History be the Judge

Bjork Swan Dress

While I find the whole who wore what at the Oscars uninteresting at best and nauseating at worst, I’m hoping for a Bjork swan dress moment once again. I say hoping because I actually liked the unconventional aspects of the dress. The whole wearing it for the eff of it. While the Hollywood mean girls turned their noses up and ridiculed her on TV and in forums, she cared not one iota. So while we’re all talking about the fabulous Valentino dress that some vapid actress wore on Oscar night (ok, I’ll be doing it too come Monday), I will hope beyond hope for another Bjork swan dress (or some iteration).

Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism by Frederique Daubal

Daubal
Bodyparts flailing, nipples being pinched, mouths, eyes, tongues…no I’m not talking about the latest Jenna Jameson flick. I’m talking about the ad campaign for the new Nokia Crystal 7900 which was designed by the famous (or at least should be) Frédérique Daubal. You can barely make any single body part out, but on detailed inspection things start becoming somewhat clear.

The phone puts the onus on companies to start getting design cues from creative directors more often. Easy to reach buttons, sleek design and all the while functional.

The Style Salon + RSVP

I’m a bit excited to see what several designers are coming up with for the fall season. But I’ve wrapped my mind in particular around two, maybe it’s because they are going to be at our event this Wednesday, perhaps it could just be that I am a sucker for well constructed sustainable fashion.

Zonkiri was interviewed by our editor Michelle Bell last season and provided great insight on how he begins his process of designing for the different seasons and what he was looking to do for the fall, we’ve dug up the video for your viewing pleasure. We also dug up the two photo galleries from the style salon event below. We had a great time in February and are looking to do it all over again this Wednesday. If you haven’t rsvp’d, you can do it right now before the list closes. Without further ado, here are the galleries and videos from the Style Salon:

Yelo.

Yelo Sleeping Pods

The color of sunshine and how I answer my phone is the name of this adorable sleep boutique, YELO. Welcomed with fresh water, a cashmere blanket and lulled to rest by an impending thunderstorm, Yelo offers what most spa goers steal any way—sleep. Take 20 winks or 40 in their cabs that surround you with a feeling of safety and rock you in zero gravity. Nothing ruins a good outfit like raccoon eyes, and nothing makes you feel better than what you skimp
on. $12 for 20 minutes.
