The Valentino Spring/Summer 2007 ads are all over the place at this point but I like looking back and seeing the seasonal evolution of the line. For the Spring/Summer 2006 season the designer went with model Doutzen Kroes. Some of the shots in the ads from the season include the unanimously praised floral embroideries and rose prints as well as the skinny white jacket that was the toast of fashion week oh so long ago (actually just about a year and some).

Parsons AAS Show (part two)
We finally got around to updating the Parsons student fashion show photo gallery and it was worth the wait. I guess the thing that struck me the most and writer Colette Smith who attended agreed was that the designs seem to have a certain degree of polish not evident in most student fashion shows attended. While there were a good handful of pieces that needed work, for the most part, the designers seemed knowledgeable about form, fit and function. Take a look at the galleries here.

Dennis Bailey is an Animal
I’m writing this because you need to understand that hairstylist Dennis Bailey unleashed, is an animal. He can do amazing things to your hair, if you let him. The photo below shows his work in abstract, but when you tell him what you want it ends up looking a thousand times better than what was planned. He understands your hair better than you do. I walked into his salon yesterday (after trying to get an appointment for 3 weeks) and told him I wanted to go short for the summer, think Victoria Beckham, he ended up doing this short layered look that’s more than trendy, it fits my face, my style, my personality. And so I’ll stop shilling for Dennis and plug his website because it may seem as if he is paying me to say these things; but there’s nothing like a good haircut and sometimes you want to yell it to the world.
And if you’re coming to our party tonight (the rsvp list is closed btw…sorry), you will see what I am talking about. His salon #is 212-662-5014 and his email is dabartsnyc@verizon.net. Tell him I sent you so I can get a discount.

Do we have to?
Some are dreading the bikini season. I say, don’t fret. You will look gorgeous. Take your time there are still about 6 week before the season really kicks into full gear. If you start now you will be able to fit into anything Rosa Cha has on tap. Click the image to see his creations from his Spring Summer show this past September at New York fashion week.

Balenciaga circa 2005
Sometimes over the weekend when there’s absolutely nill to do and I find myself bouncing off the walls because of boredom (mind you I live in New York), I look through my old magazines and see photos and think, wow how cool from oh so long ago. Oh so long ago meaning 2 seasons ago. Now most people I know in this industry wouldn’t be caught dead wearing something from a season or two ago, but some pieces are simply timeless. A quick example of this timelessness is this dress from Balenciaga that Gisele effortlessly wears. Searching for and monetary issues aside, this is simply what one can wear any season and still be current. It’s so good and I am going to gush so much that the photo takes up half the page. Yes? Yes. For more timeless Balenciaga photos by the way, click here.
