I’m writing this because you need to understand that hairstylist Dennis Bailey unleashed, is an animal. He can do amazing things to your hair, if you let him. The photo below shows his work in abstract, but when you tell him what you want it ends up looking a thousand times better than what was planned. He understands your hair better than you do. I walked into his salon yesterday (after trying to get an appointment for 3 weeks) and told him I wanted to go short for the summer, think Victoria Beckham, he ended up doing this short layered look that’s more than trendy, it fits my face, my style, my personality. And so I’ll stop shilling for Dennis and plug his website because it may seem as if he is paying me to say these things; but there’s nothing like a good haircut and sometimes you want to yell it to the world.
And if you’re coming to our party tonight (the rsvp list is closed btw…sorry), you will see what I am talking about. His salon #is 212-662-5014 and his email is dabartsnyc@verizon.net. Tell him I sent you so I can get a discount.

Have Your Cake, and Wear it Too

The freshly hip (and very young) streetwear design label Cake has opened its website to shipping orders. Their Summer 07 collection only has 5 different T-shirts — each surprisingly unique, with a little bit of edge — but at $32 each (shipping included), they’re a real steal.
Each shirt is printed using a series of overlapping screens with a seamless layering effect of graphics and photo images. My favorite is “Models Love Cake” — playful sexiness meets irreverent style.
Keep your eye on these guys, they’re planning on expanding the label to include a full line of garments and accessories in the near future.

Graduation Day, Runway Style

You have to love fashion. What other industry holds their graduation in a form of a fashion show? That’s how it’s done. I hate to do the whole teaser thing, but I figure why not. Tuesday morning, Papierdoll newsletter subscribers will get a treat. They will get first crack at the complete lineup of photos from the Parson AAS show. Some of the top designers in the industry got their start and education at Parsons. We took about 250 photos and loved every minute of it. Writer Colette Smith will give a rundown of everything that happened.
It shows up tomorrow in your inbox if you are a subscriber. Everyone else can see it the following day. Subscribe now to get the newsletter, it’s free.

Suge Knight is going to be Pissed
Apparently Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen named their new high end line…wait for it….”The Row”. Not to be confused with former rap label Death Row, renamed “Tha Row”. So what’s the line about you say?
Well since the press was not allowed to see the line and snark, someone at the fashionspot decided to leak, she says:
either way, the collection is without a joke GREAT.
mainly vintage tees, cardies, hooded tops… all made out of either vintage cotton or super fine cashmere..
also a tux jacket and a 3/4 sleeve length boys blazer. a sheepskin short fur jacket that comes in black and grey.
almost neoprene like skinny pants in black and black and blue skinny jeans.

Death and Spring
If I were to die today and given a second chance to come back and wear one more spring collection, it would be Karl Lagerfeld’s.
From his Spring 2007 collection:
