Weekend Planner
Papierblog Weekend Planner 7/28 - 7/31
The weekend planner is getting to become a favorite. Wrote one reader: “I can’t believe the deals that I got from going to the Brooklyn Design Collective, you guys rock.” No I did not make that up, someone actually wrote that… Ok she didn’t say we rocked, but I had to add an extra umpphh for effect. What am I doing this weekend? The question should be what are WE doing this weekend:
Must See

In London this weekend? Then you should check out V&A’s Out of London, Paris and New York 1965-1968 exhibit. Sure they have other exhibits but what better way to know about your fashion future than by learning about your fashion past?

Must Read: A.L.T. 365+

Andre Leon Talley’s memoir is what you want to read when you have Devil Wears Prada exhaustion. According to Papierdoll editor Lisa Radon’s review it’s “part memoir, part scrapbook, part composite picture of his world.” Definitely a great read over the weekend. Read Lisa’s full review here.

Must Buy: Victoria Skirt

Kathy Mallone’s Fofolle online store has the best selection of skirts I’ve seen in a long time. Original one-of-a-kind pieces make her skirts all that more valuable. My favorite is this Victoria Skirt. Although it’s sold out, it may be making a comeback soon if you ask her nicely. Fret not though, there are plenty of the skirts and dresses available at her store. Another incentive to buy from her store? From now until August 15th, you will receive a 15% discount off your complete order at Fofolle if you mention/use code Papierdoll.
Enjoy your weekend!
Papierblog Weekend Planner
This edition of weekend planner will have you praising Papierblog to the high heavens, or not. It’s hot, it’s muggy and it may rain but we all should enjoy some semblance of the weekend with these plans.

This exhibit takes place in LA. It launched last week and has been the talk of the town. See here and here. It takes place from July 14th to August 22.

Must Do: Design Collective’s Brooklyn Designer Market

Must Read: Fashion Wire Daily’s look at the Sunglass Hut Swim Shows Miami 2007

Before you head out to the beach are you sure that bikini you have is a keeper? Check out Fashion Wire Daily’s look at the Sunglass Hut Swim shows in Miami. While you’re doing that you can also see the videos for yourself at the Sunglass Hut website.

Papierblog Weekend Planner
It’s been a long week and Papierblog has your fashion weekend planned out (mixed with some non-fashion goodies as well).
Must See: Time to Leave

This movie from director Francois Ozon is about a young fashion photographer who discovers he has a malignant brain tumor and will die soon. He alienates is boyfriend and other members of his family when he doesn’t tell them about the tumor and the story develops from there. If you are fed up with the blockbuster swashbuckling, superhero, big budget flicks this summer, this is a welcome change of Pace.

Must Do Hooti Couture

We’ve highlighted this vintage gem again, and again, and again. But you really have to head over this weekend. The fall vintage fashions are slowly trickling in and you must beat everyone else to the punch. If you happen not to be in Brooklyn this weekend, give them a call (718-857-1977), they may have something you’ve been looking for.
Must Read: Fashion Wire Daily’s Coverage of Sao Paulo Spring/Summer 07 Fashion Week

Though I wish we could be there, Fashion Wire Daily will be covering Sao Paulo fashion week for the Spring Summer 07 season. I like this fashion week in particular because you get to see the non-traditional, non-standard designers show their wares. You can get your fashion inspiration here instead of where the masses go. Definitely a must read.
Must Buy:Knotted Racer Back Dress by James Perse

The key to the summer is looking relaxed as well as feeling that way. This dress from James Perse says “I’ve managed to do something almost impossible in fashion: look good and be comfortable at the same time…damn it.” It’s available at Eluxury for $135. (one of the only items below $200 at that store by the way)

The weekend is here (love how the work week went so fast) so plans have to be made, shopping must be done and the show must go on. Here’s what the Papierblog weekend planner has in store.
Must See:: FASHION & TEXTILE HISTORY GALLERY

If you are in NYC this weekend you should head over to the FIT museum on Saturday between 10am and 5pm for the fashion and textile industry exhibit. It contains and I quote, “some 30,000 textiles from the 6th to 21st centuries, as well as 300,000 textile swatches and 1,300 sample books.” Getting your look together this fall might be aided by this exhibit.
Must Do: Shoe Inn Warehouse Sale
We mentioned it earlier in the week but if you missed it. Shoe Inn is having a ware house sale of our favorite brands of boots. Anything can be had for between 30 and 50% off. See the link for details.
Must Read Review of Armani’s Prive Collection

Fashion Week Daily is in love with Armani’s Prive collection at the start of the three day exhbition of the couture collections. Read the review.
Must Buy: Harajuku Swimwear

Still lacking in the bikini department? Well pick up a number from Harajuku swimwear online. You will probably get your own unique piece instead of buying the cookie cutter designs at department stores. You can also talk to the designer if you want a specialized piece. (Their site needs a little updating)
